This is my darning pile. Four pairs of handknit socks that need to be darned. One doesn’t throw away handknit socks when the wearer wears a hole in them. One darns them. Or, in my case, one procrastinates darning them until one collects a pile. There is actually a fifth pair somewhere, too. One of these days, I will get around to fixing all of them.
You can send them to my Mom — she makes wonderful sock monsters with old socks. I’ll post photo of them one of these days. In fact, now that I think about it, I may ask for your holey socks to make some sock monsters! I want to make a new Book Pet for Anna’s preschool with a monster theme: all books about monsters and a few cute little sock monsters.
I am actually hoping to mend them so that Isaac and Matt can wear their socks again. They are pretty attached to their handknit socks. I would love to see your mom’s creations, though! And yours, too, of course…
Well, I was going to say that darning piles are like mending piles……they multiply on their own (in the dark). And then, I guess they can turn into SOCK MONSTERS!
